…unless you want to be catapulted into achieving your dreams! I recently revisited a vision board I completed a number of years ago and realized that I had accomplished much of what I had included as future goals. I don’t say this to brag but to demonstrate the power of visually depicting your dreams and desires. I’m in the process of completing a new vision board and I have a better understanding of what makes them work. In Martha Beck’s book, “Finding Your Own North Star, Claiming the Life You Want” she talks about the principles of essential and social selves. She shares how the social self is politically correct and expresses itself verbally, while the essential self is the true essence of how you feel and what you desire but it does not vocalize, expressing itself through non-verbal means. It seems that the exercise of completing a vision board allows the essential self to express itself through the selection of specific images that appeal to it. The images represent a connection to our own personal North Star. Check out more about the “North Star” in Marth Beck’s excellent book that I referenced. I’ve got to run because I’m preparing to work on my vision board and I hope you will too!
